With this beautiful weather, we have been outside so much lately. We love visiting the parks nearby, like the Academy Springs Park in downtown Covington. They have a little pond, a butterfly garden, a playground and picnic tables. We love exploring all over the pond and finding the fish and frogs along the pond. You know, all the boy things. Even if it's been raining, and the boys' soccer practices are cancelled, the boys have even enjoyed playing in the rain.
If we haven't been outside playing, we have been celebrating all of the birthdays. Everett turned four in August, Bennett turned six in September, and Abbott turned two in October. In our video below, you can see us celebrating Bennett's birthday. We went to Boost (trampoline park) in Covington and Stevi B's for some pizza and games. We had already celebrated with most of our family earlier that month, but I wanted to do something small for just him. I'm so glad we did. It was so fun and so precious. Sometimes, the simplest birthdays are the best. We were glad to have a few cousins and a couple of friends join us last minute. It's so sweet to see your kids' friendships taking place right in front of you.
Back at our house, I have been keeping up the summer garden, but I've started to let it slowly die as I continue to cater to the winter garden. Even with my neglect, I have had three tomato plants start on their own (from an old tomato, I assume). So, I continue to water them and a few other plants in the raised beds. Otherwise, the greenhouse tunnel has everything ready for the winter garden, and I have the sprinkler inside to do the watering for me.
The small chickens have been so spunky, I thought I could introduce them to the older chickens (they were 8 weeks during this video). It was a decent introduction, but they could fit through the fencing I had put up for the occasion, which was challenging. Plus, the older chickens were bullying them, of course. So, back into the brooder box they went. It's okay; soon enough they will be able to intermingle freely. They are growing so fast!
