Finally learning some things!
I have been learning from my mistakes and correcting some things in the chicken coop. For example, the chickens needed a roost. Oops! We (Bennett and I) worked on putting together a roost and some walls for the girls to play on around the roost, nesting box and feeder. Under the roost, I laid down a wooden floor board with wood shavings on top because this is where the girls will mostly go to the bathroom, and this will help with an easier cleanup. I put wood shavings everywhere else as well but no other wood flooring. I didn't get too elaborate with the roost either; I simply elevated a piece of wood off of the floor, which seems to work just fine. They have really enjoyed having some different spots to hang around in the coop.
In our recap video for the Wilson Home series, we visit the farmers market in Covington, which is growing every time I visit. However, we only bought a few things before going to our normal produce stand. I have found that going to the farmers market and produce stand is way more affordable than grocery stores. I'm also way more eager to support local farmers when I can. When I am able, I make the extra stops to go to the farmers market and/or produce stand for our produce for the week. Then, I go to Aldi for the rest of our food (snacks, some meats and milk). I'm currently considering seeking out options for raw milk, but I haven't completely made that decision yet.
