The seven hour drive...
What on earth do you do with three kids in the car for seven hours? Especially when kids are so attached to electronics now. We wanted to encourage other activities before resorting to them watching something on our phones. So here are the things I found to be most useful in the car.
Books... Hear me out on this. I know it's kind of a given, but grab all of the interactive books, the books that are long and with big pictures, the books that fold out or have flaps, etc. Usborne has some great options for this!
Coloring books! This actually entertains my five year old a lot in the car. I keep his coloring book and a small box of three crayons in the car almost always.
Wikki Stix: I know if you're a millennial, you had some fun with these as a kid. They never get old, and they are always fun. Even if they end up balled up at the end of playing. Who cares?!
Kids podcasts! I can't believe I've never introduced the kids to this before a few weeks ago. I had asked for recommendations on how to keep the kids entertained, and a mom recommended podcasts. The kids have loved it! They actually request it now. If you're curious about listening, we loved Wow In The World on Amazon Music.
Games: not just "I Spy". I actually crawled in the back and played a card game with the kids. Okay, so it's kind of the same idea as "I Spy", but it was a little different. We played World of Disney Eye Found It . We really enjoyed playing in the back seat. It's a fun game for young kids. My five year old won!
SNACKS! Apples, oranges, cereal bars, and trail mix.
What I WISH I had brought:
The training potty... I've seen this as a recommendation before and should have known better than to expect only one stop with the boys. You live and learn!
Once we arrived in Orlando, we stayed at Coco Key Water Resort, which was the coolest hotel for the kids. We woke up the next morning to a breakfast buffet, a big arcade for the boys and different swimming pools all around us. The boys had such a blast on all of the slides and snacking beside the pool. Not to mention, the adult drinks were pretty tasty as well. I'm so glad we booked this place the day before going to Disney World. I really put us in the vacation mood.
