Chicken Coop Mistakes & Potato Gardening

Where we went wrong...

We have continued the playground reward for good behavior for my three year old, and some days it works. Other days, it doesn't, and I have to find other ways to motivate him. I enjoy taking the boys to the playground because it allows them to get out some energy while exploring; however, getting to and from the playground is always a struggle. In the end, it's worth it though. Chick-fil-a has been a nice change up lately because it's an indoor playground with air conditioning, and I can watch them from outside of the sound proof (ish) room while sipping my large diet lemonade. Not a bad situation, if you ask me!

In other news, our chicken coop has pointed out even more errors. We had to patch up one section (the first of a few now) because of a predator of some sort that got into my garden and then the chicken coop. We still aren't sure what it was/is, but we are learning and adjusting accordingly. I had to even update the chickens' water feeder because the first one that I'd purchased was falling apart way too often. So, I invested in a more durable one that doesn't rely on suction to release more water. So far, it has been a good purchase, and I'm pleased with it.

In my latest Wilson Home video, there is a brief look at how I make my Summer Kale Salad, which I had paired with a tuna steak salad one night (a perfect combination, in my opinion). Speaking of Chick-fil-a, this kale salad is very similar to their kale crunch salad. Mine doesn't have cabbage or almonds like theirs; however, the dressing is very similar, and I use cranberries and walnuts. You can pair any meat with this and call it a day!

In the garden, I have been so eager to watch all of the vegetables and fruits grow. I had planted the potatoes with the mounds on either side so that I could continue to cover the shoots as the grew taller and taller. Now that they are tall enough, I have completely covered them to the point of the garden bed being back to flat. So now the shoots can grow as tall as they like, and I will patiently wait for flowers to bloom at the top to tell me the potatoes are beginning to form. I love watching all the garden grow. It's so satisfying. You can watch all of this and more in my latest recap video from the Wilson Home: Chicken Coop Mistakes & Potato Gardening.
