Balsamic & Honey Brussels

The perfect side dish!

I made this with my 5 year old son, and we had fun smashing the brussel sprouts together. We went live on my Facebook for all of you to see how we did it (watch below)!

The key is to boil the brussel sprouts first for about 10 minutes. Take them out and smash with whatever you have. We used a mason jar by placing the bottom on top of each brussel sprout and pressing down until they flattened. Of course, my son had a little too much fun with the smashing part.

I made my own mixture of oil, vinegar, garlic and honey to drizzle on top before baking more in the oven. You could change this up to your liking with more or less of each ingredient, or you could even at a little spice with some red pepper flakes! I paired this with a beef roast that had been in the slow cooker all day. Delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb brussel sprouts

  • 2 tbsp olilve oil

  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar

  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

  • 2 tbsp honey

Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Boil the brussel sprouts in a pot of water for about 10 minutes.

Step 2

Spoon the brussel sprouts onto a prepared baking sheet. Smash each brussel sprout with the bottom of a mason jar (or anything else you have, like an olive oil jar).

Step 3

Mix together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic and honey until well combined. Drizzle the mixture all over the brussel sprouts and bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
